New Media Assignment

A new emerging and innovative communications platform that I have selected for this second assignment is tunnel advertising which is a new platform for train advertising. As billboard banning increases, TV and print ads continue to be ignored, and as advertisements fill up every space in our environment, advertisers are looking for new platforms to reach out to consumers more. Advertisers have discovered a new and unusual platform to place their advertisements which are tunnels. Advertisers will be using tunnels to advertise. Tunnel advertising has been made possible by digital media tools. Through this advertising medium, advertisers and outdoor advertising agencies would be able to reach target audiences as they are being transported on subways and trains. As viewers pass these Digital Media installations, they will be treated to 8 seconds or longer of motion- picture advertisements. Commuters will be able to enjoy large, innovative and beautiful motion picture ads that fill train windows. Studies have also found out that tunnel train advertising displays have the highest recall rate compared to all transit advertising which is also allows for effective branding.                                                                                       
In this form of train advertising, 48 sensors record in real time the speed of a passing train allowing total control of image alignment. It can also work at different speed patterns which provide great flexibility for the advertisement. A system will also adjust itself in real time to position the image precisely against the passing window which will guarantee great quality for LCD image. And because of the advanced digital media used, this form of advertising will also allow the advertisers to make use of special effects to effectively capture the consumer's attention. Its capability for automatic maintenance will also cut costs and expenses for the advertising campaign. The system can also be completely controlled and monitored through the internet which will make it easier for advertisers to monitor their advertisements. In recent studies tunnel train advertising medium is the most valuable space in Out of Home Advertising. More than 90 percent of commuters were also able to remember the tunnel advertisement and more than 50 percent remembered the advertisement even after months of seeing it. The uniqueness of this effective advertising medium generates great recall rate from the viewers. When the audience is able to remember the advertisement, the more effective it will be. The idea is to create a huge impact on the consumers.

I believe that the train tunnel advertising can be effective as an advertising medium. As train tunnel advertisements continues to gain more popularity and gain more attention I believe it can be more impacting in the big cities that have underground subways. I believe that any location where there are tunnel advertisements being placed can be impacting to the company that is being advertised. I would rely and count on tunnel advertising to bring awareness to my company as well as any services or items I may be selling. I would rely on tunnel advertising to persuade the consumers to purchase my services over other brands. Commuters traveling on underground subways will be able to recognize my advertisements by seeing them often in train subways. I believe tunnel advertisements can be productive and allow my services to get brand recognition. I believe that tunnel advertisements would be effective because it is a new innovative emerging communications platform that not that many people have come across. The images, colors and lights on the LCD screen will catch the attention of the train passengers. It is not very common to see this new type of images in underground subway stations. Tunnel advertising is a different form of advertising because when commuters on the train look outside the window they see the lighted LCD screen advertising the ads that are being shown.                                                                                      

My advertising scenario would consist of tunnel advertising that would have my advertisements being displayed in local underground subways. Advertising in underground subway tunnels would provide my company with a different perspective in the eyes of the consumers. Tunnel advertising would bring brand awareness to my advertising campaign. I believe tunnel advertisements would be effective because it is something different than what we are used to seeing. Viewing the images that are being displayed on the LCD screens would persuade the train passengers to see the underground subway advertisements and be curious on what is being showed. After viewing the advertisements they will encourage the subway passengers to gain new knowledge on the products and services that your company has to offer. Brand recognition and brand awareness is what separates you from your competitors. I believe that tunnel advertising would be successful because it would make your advertisements more memorable toward your consumers. Tunnel advertising would be a creative method to advertise your services. Tunnel advertising will increase on sales and brand recognition as passengers will see advertisements and be interested on what is being displayed. Tunnel advertising would consist on many different advertisements being displayed. Advertisements in underground subways would vary based on the advertising campaign and the services being offered. My advertising campaign would contain images that would be displayed on the LCD screens. Train passengers would be forced to view the advertisements because no matter what way they turn to they will be able to see the advertisement. Creating new innovative communication platforms are important because advertisers always are interested in finding new ways to stand out to the consumer and look for better ways to make an impact within their company. Tunnel advertising would be appealing to the consumer because it is not common when you come across video advertisements underground in the subways. Tunnel advertising could tremendously impact an advertising campaign. I would advertise my products and services in several images or in a video on the underground tunnel advertisements. I believe colorful images are more likely to catch the attention of the consumer. I fully believe that the Tunnel advertising campaign can truly be successful. I would invest money in tunnel advertising if there was an underground subway in my area. The big cities that have an underground subway are more likely to heavily rely on tunnel advertising. I believe it is always important to create new method to increase brand awareness. By having tunnel advertisement, consumers will be able to recognize your advertisement at a faster rate than your competitors. I believe that tunnel advertising can truly be very impactful to your companies advertising campaign.

Development of New Facebook Ad Format Assignment

Facebook currently has a user friendly advertising format. Facebook gives their users the opportunity to advertise on facebook. Advertisers on facebook are given the opportunity to create and design their own ad. Advertisers on facebook are also capable of selecting a title, listing the copy of the ad, as well as selecting an image to be viewed on the advertisement. When advertising on facebook a notification pops up on the right hand side of the facebook page. When a friend likes a facebook page facebook posts a notification that a specific friend liked that certain page. Not only does facebook let you know what pages your friends have liked, but there is also sponsored links that provide you with information on items that you have liked. Companies could post a different product image on facebook every week. For a single week at a time companies can be able to change the full page banner ad to different products within their company that way viewers will be able to see all the products within that company. The advertising format on Face allows you to select the target consumer. The location, demographics, and interests are all part of the target consumer. Facebook gives you the opportunity to advertise within the United States, within a certain state, city and zip code. Based on what demographics are selected, Facebook lists estimated reaches that could be accomplished by advertising on facebook. Also within the Facebook advertising format you are able to select how you are planning on paying for the advertisements, how much your budget is and if you will be paying per day or if you will be paying per click on the advertisement. The pricing is also listed on where facebook suggests you to pay a bid of 70 cents per click on your advertisement.                                                                                                 
Facebook is a very valuable advertising source when it comes to advertising media. Advertising on Facebook could potentially have a very positive impact on companies who decide to advertise on Facebook. Facebook currently has 845 million monthly active users. Facebook also has 2.7 billion likes and comments per day. It has 250 million photos uploaded on a daily basis. Facebook also has 100 billion friendships that have been created. Facebook is a valuable advertising media because it gives advertisements the opportunity to be seen by 845 million monthly users throughout many countries all over the world. With facebook having 2.7 billion likes and comments per day just makes it more realistic in knowing the capability that advertisements on facebook can achieve. Advertisements and like pages on facebook are capable of making an impact on the companies who decide to advertise on facebook.  Facebook also allows users like me to stay in touch with friends worldwide and share ideas or share products that can be advertisements for companies. By viewing the high volume of viewers that facebook has on a daily basis is proof of how much success advertisements on facebook can accomplish for companies. I believe that advertising on facebook is a very reliable advertising media that exists today. I believe advertising on facebook is a reliable source to advertise with. Facebook users will be forced to view advertisements on the facebook pages. I believe advertisements on facebook provide advertisers with powerful and successful advertisements for companies that advertise on facebook.  
 A new recommendation that I would create based on facebook’s strengths would be creating a full page banner ad format. I would create a full page facebook advertisement that would display images of specific brands or products within specific companies that are advertising toward the viewers.  The full page Facebook advertisement would contain images of products packing and even have the colors of the item. It would be like a picture of a specific product covering the entire facebook page with that product. Not only would the full page banner ad exist as a format but there would also be tabs on the right hand side of the facebook page of products that have been liked by friends within the same company that way companies could advertise multiple products at the same time. The background banner ad could be of crackers while the tabs along the side could be of soft drinks that are produced within the same company. There can be multiple brands within a facebook page that are all produced by the same company. I believe this recommendation would be great for Facebook because of the high volume of views and user’s facebook has on a daily basis. As I had mentioned before Facebook had 845 million monthly active users, 2.7 billion likes and comments per day. Facebook also has 250 million photos uploaded per day and 100 billion friendships. I believe the recommendation I have created based on facebook’s strengths would be very successful for the companies that decided to try this method on facebook. I also believe that advertising on facebook is a very smart idea because it allows advertisements to be seen by a wide range of people throughout the world. Advertising on facebook would allow consumers to have brand recognition because they would continue to see the facebook full page banner advertisements. Many members of society rely on facebook on a daily basis to be connected with friends all over the world. I believe advertising on facebook is a great idea and I also believe it will have a positive impact on the company.                                                                                                 
A hypothetical client that I would suggest that could execute an advertising campaign on facebook using the ad format I have suggested would be Kraft Foods. Kraft Foods is a company that produces a variety of highly consumed products throughout the world. Kraft Foods is currently ranked within the top eight favorite companies in the United States. Kraft Foods is currently ranked at number five. Kraft Foods produces a wide variety of products ranging from cheese’s, cookies, crackers, powered soft drinks and dressings. Some of the brands within Kraft Foods are Nabisco, Crystal Light, Oscar Meyer, Kraft Foods cheese’s and many more other brands.  I believe Kraft Foods could execute an advertising campaign full page banner ad format that would consist of many of Kraft Food’s products. One example of the Facebook advertising format that Kraft Foods could create could be of the Oreo cookies since this year in 2012, the Oreo cookie celebrates its 100th birthday. For a limited time Nabisco has created a limited edition birthday cake Oreos. The birthday cake Oreos full page banner ad format could be of the Oreo packing image as the entire background of the facebook page. The background full page banner ad format could be changed by Kraft Foods on a weekly basis, so it could give viewers different products to check out weekly. For one week Kraft Foods could use Nabisco products packaging image as a background page for the facebook page and change it on a weekly basis. After advertising a product within the brand of Nabisco, Kraft Foods could advertise with a different brand within the Kraft Foods brand. The following week Kraft foods can display images of Kraft’s macaroni and cheese or other Kraft cheese’s. The following week Kraft foods could advertise the Crystal Light brand and provide consumers with images of the great tasting crystal light products. I truly believe Kraft Foods would be a great company to do the full size banner advertisements for their products. I am truly sure that Kraft Foods would have a successful campaign when it comes to the full page banner advertisement formats.
